Destination weddings

Destination wedding
in Norway.

Norway is increasingly popular for destination weddings — and there are good reasons why.

It starts with the landscape: fjords that go on for hundreds of kilometres, mountains that drop straight into the sea, light that turns gold at midnight in summer. Then there's the infrastructure: Norway is small, logistically organised, and easier to navigate than it looks on a map.

Most international couples say the same thing afterwards: they worried it would be complicated, and it turned out to be simpler than expected.

The most popular destination wedding settings

The western fjords

Hardangerfjord, Sognefjord, Geirangerfjord. Classic Norway — dramatic and unmistakeable. Small hotels and farm venues dot the fjord edges. Getting there requires a drive from Bergen or Ålesund, but that's part of the experience.

Lofoten

The islands above the Arctic Circle, with the Lofoten Wall rising from the sea. In July the sun doesn't set. In autumn the colours are extraordinary. There's only so much capacity here — book early.

The Jæren coast

My home area: flat, wide beaches, dramatic light from the North Sea, a landscape unlike anywhere else in Norway. Less well-known internationally, which means more availability and lower prices.

Oslo and surroundings

The most accessible option — good flight connections from most of Europe and North America. A mix of urban venues in the city and woodland and fjord options within an hour's drive.

What I can help with

Beyond the photography: I know the venues, the vendors worth recommending, and the practical questions that come up when planning from abroad. I'm happy to share what I know, whether or not you end up booking me.
