Sidney & Torstein

Stavanger, Norway

Heart-shaped sunglasses were everywhere. On the groom and best man, on the grandmother, on the guests in line outside the church, on people at the dinner table late into the evening. Sidney and Torstein had ordered them for everyone — and everyone wore them.

Sidney got ready alone with good light and little stress. Torstein and the best man stood outside with bubble guns and took the wedding-prep their own way.

The ceremony was calm and beautiful. Out in the sun afterwards, the couple toasted toward their guests while bubbles flew in every direction. It’s one of those photos where everything aligns — perspective, light, mood.

We took the portraits in the garden afterwards. It was golden autumn light and plenty of room to move. Torstein lifted Sidney up, and that became the image you remember from that afternoon.

During dinner the tears came — Sidney quietly wiped them away while someone gave a speech. Those moments aren’t planned, and they don’t need to be.

Late in the evening Sidney changed into a short white dress. On the dance floor she was lifted into the air. Outside, in front of the white villa, she was lifted again — this time by her closest friends.
